Smooth Green Snake Basking on a Rock

While continuing with my West Virginia theme, here is a slight departure from the landscapes to show one of my favorite snake finds of the year, a Smooth Green Snake. After dreaming of finding my first Smooth Green all throughout the year, I finally got my chance just before the snakes went into hibernation for the year. This particular snake, the largest of a total of five of the same species found under rocks along a powerline cut in Monongahela National Forest, was then placed on top of this detailed but simple rock in order to best show off the snake in a photogenic habitat.
