This image was taken at the Lindy Point Overlook in Blackwater Falls State Park, West Virginia. A high pressure system had been hanging around the area for several days, resulting in many dissapointing cloudless sunrises and sunsets. Despite the clear sky, my friend Alex Mody and I made the short hike out to Lindy Point to photograph the sunset anyways. If anything, good images could be made with the setting sun shown as a bright sunstar near the horizon. Indeed, I made many images of just that scene. However, just 5 minutes after the sun had set, some clouds began moving into the area and flying quickly overhead. Using my Singh-Ray Vari-ND neutral density filter, I slowed the exposure down to several minutes to show the motion of the clouds. The following image is the result.
