Autumn Leaves on Birch Bark, Adirondack State Park, New York

Autumn color has definitely dwindled here in Northern Virginia. While I wait for the snow in this transitional period of brown, here is an image from my October trip to Vermont and the High Peaks. This photograph was taken after two days of heavy rain, courtesy of Tropical Storm Nicole. Finding beautiful fallen leaves on the forest floor, I arranged them here on a nice piece of birch bark. While autumn color is mostly done, I'm still waiting for the beech forests to turn yellow, and plan on making another trip to them early next week.
