Here's another from my wonderful day trip to Shenandoah National Park. Most of the leaves in the higher elevations had fallen off, but here in this tiny section I found one of the most amazing combinations of lichen, tree trunks, and color that I've ever had the pleasure to witness. By standing far away and using a telephoto lens to compress all of the trunks together, I managed to show most of the scene without any distracting elements being able to creep in. Many people prefer a simpler forest scene, but I really love the organic, messy feeling of a forest with lots of "stuff" going on.
